Work with me.
Psychotherapy & Counselling.
This is a space designed for those seeking a comprehensive, introspective, and creative approach to their healing journey. If you find yourself yearning for a deeper self-understanding and a path toward lasting change, you've come to the right place.
Recognising that each person's journey is personal and unique, I am dedicated to understanding your individual challenges, strengths, concerns, and desires. I adopt a holistic psychotherapeutic approach that is client-centred and goes beyond the confines of traditional talk therapy. Embracing an explorative, multidimensional methodology known as Processwork (or Process Oriented Psychology), this approach, tailored to your unique needs and interests, may incorporate subtle elements of somatic therapy, the creative aspects of art therapy, dream analysis, or parts-work, aiming to uncover the often-overlooked facets of your inner life. It’s an approach that drops deeper than the surface of our personal narrative and helps us make sense of and make changes to our lives in an embodied and empowered way.
As a meditation teacher, I often integrate mindfulness and relaxation practices into our sessions. This serves to support your nervous system's healing and restoration, facilitating a deeper level of self-awareness. Throughout our work together, you will be gently guided in understanding and reshaping the thought, emotion, and behaviour patterns that have become woven into your life and identity. As you gain profound insights about yourself, engage your imagination, and unlock your potential for healing and growth, you may discover a sense of deep enjoyment in the process. Yes, therapy can be fun!
Compassion, gentleness, and a profound respect for your unique experiences are the pillars of my work. This is a trauma-sensitive environment, where the depth and challenges of your past are acknowledged, and the strength of your spirit is celebrated.
At the core of our work together lies your personal growth and self-discovery; Walking a path for you to become more comfortable, alive, and well whilst being truly yourself. I use this phrase “fall in love with your life” because so many of us crave a feeling of belonging, self-acceptance, and joy. Your current stressors may be the very thing that open a doorway to a deeper understanding and love for yourself that will support your creation of a brighter future. This is my wish for you.
Together, we will embark on a journey towards your empowerment, self-understanding, and enduring transformation. If you are in search of a nurturing and reflective space to begin this journey, I am here to walk beside you with care and dedication.

How long is a piece of string? It varies. For some people, just two to four sessions might help shift their perspective enough to bring a sense of peace and insight. For others this is long term work spanning several months to years. The frequency of sessions is always up to you. Though I may make suggestions based on what we discuss together, you will never be pressured to book.

This is a very common question. The differences are subtle. Read this short article to find out more.

Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to claim a Medicare rebate for either meditation or psychotherapy unless these services are offered by a psychologist (which I am not). If you have an NDIS plan it may be possible to use your funding for either service. Please speak with your plan manager or contact me to discuss your options.

Meditation coaching.
Learning to meditate can be the beginning of a transformative journey of self-discovery and inner balance. However, there are many common obstacles, and it can be challenging to start a practice without support. Meditation coaching aims to get you meditating in a way that feels good and works for you. Whether you're navigating life transitions, seeking effective tools to manage stress or challenging emotions like anxiety or low mood, or looking to alleviate physical pain, meditation can be a powerful practice to lead you on a path to well-being.
Our approach is uniquely tailored to your needs. Meditation coaching is not a one-size-fits-all solution; it's a personal exploration of what works best for you. Every individual's journey is different, which is why I offer private coaching sessions in a relaxed atmosphere, granting you the time and space to discover meditation techniques that resonate with your unique personality and circumstances. I believe everyone can meditate, it’s just a case of working out how to make the practice your own.
We will support you to overcome some common meditation challenges including:
Being easily distracted
Having an overactive mind
Getting groggy and falling asleep
Creating a meditation habit you can stick to
Restlessness and agitation
My approach mainly draws on mindfulness-based practices but may also encompass visualisation, breathwork, mindful-movement exercises and nervous system regulation techniques depending on your needs and interests.
Although this is a coaching relationship and the goal is to help support you to develop a meditation practice, sessions often go beyond meditation techniques. We will use this time together to help you cultivate self-awareness, gain insights, and develop the ability to reflect on your inner life.
Meditation coaching can be an invaluable complement to psychotherapy or counselling, providing additional support and practical strategies to enhance your overall well-being.

At the beginning of a session, you will discuss your experience of meditation and why you are wanting to learn to meditate.
We will then explore several meditation techniques to find what works best for you. These may include mindfulness practices, mantra, breathwork and body-based meditations.
We usually sit in comfortable chairs but you will also have the option to lie down or sit on a cushion if this is your preference. You don’t need to wear any special clothing or sit cross-legged.
My approach is secular and free of overly spiritual concepts or jargon. This is not because I don’t value these approaches, but because my intention is to empower you to trust your own process in meditation and find your own language to describe your meditative experiences.
Reflecting on your meditations is encouraged as this helps to strengthen your ability to meta-communicate – i.e. gain awareness of your inner life and talk about your experiences. Literature suggests that people who have greater self-awareness and capacities for reflection experience greater success in therapy. Whether you attend therapy or not, these are useful capacities to develop for a healthy emotional and relational life. If you can talk about your thoughts and feelings this will improve your relationship with yourself and others.

This is completely up to you. You might want to try one or two sessions and see what you think.
In order to develop a regular meditation habit, it would be beneficial to attend 4-6 sessions spaced out weekly to fortnightly. The effectiveness of meditation is dose dependent. If you do it regularly you will notice the benefits. If you do it once in a while you may notice a short term benefit but will be unlikely to experience anything long lasting.
You may also consider attending one of my meditation courses to complement your 1:1 coaching. Please see www.geelongmeditationcentre.com.au for details of upcoming courses.

Yes! If you’d like to learn to meditate in a group atmosphere, l run regular meditation courses and practice groups. Visit the Geelong Meditation Centre website for more information.
